So, this weekend I celebrated my 29th birthday! I thought is was only right to focus this week’s blog post on goal setting before turning 30!

I mean turning 30 is not that bad, aye? It can’t be all about wrinkles, grey hair and the expectation that you should have your ‘ish’ together, surely?

Well, to make sure that I leave my twenties with a bang, I thought it would be good to set myself 30 things to do before turning 30. One thing’s for sure, I am not taking the view that my life is over when I turn 30. In fact, I want to take more risks, be more adventurous and enjoy every waking moment. So here’s to my 29th year with 30 things I want to do before turning 30!

1. Self Love
Do what makes me happy, say no to things that don’t make me happy or bring joy into my life. Sometimes we can get so caught up pleasing others without pleasing the most important person, ourselves.

2. Volunteer
I really want to volunteer my time for a cause I believe in. A few spring to mind and I’m sure my time will be of value.

3. Develop my self confidence
Being confident in yourself is a game changer! Confidence is something that can be lost so easily. It definitely happened to me during my childhood. But each and everyday, I am building my confidence and becoming a stronger version of myself. I would like to venture out and explore more ways to build my self confidence.

4. Enhance my public speaking skills
If I could go up on stage and speak with bags of confidence, I would feel on fire! Over the next 12 months, I want to explore different ways to boost my public speaking confidence, which brings me on to my next point:

5. Face challenges & learn what I need to conquer them
I want to face some of the challenges I would usually run from and conquer them! This could involve investing in a coach or mentor to help me through! I want to learn what it takes to conquer my fears.

6. Travel somewhere I have always wanted to go
One of the places I have been longing to travel to is Scotland! I have been saying it for ages now. It is a significant place for me because my dad was born there.

7. Save a little each month to invest in myself
Even if it is £1 a month! I would like to start putting a little something aside each month to invest in ME!

8. Love MY Body
When I was in college, I remember doing a project about loving our bodies and doing a life drawing of a naked man! Well, I need to really put into practice the whole notion of loving my body and not being too self-critical about my appearance.

This is something that I have wanted to try for the longest time! No time like the present.

10. Put on at least one event
Well, I am currently working on a suicide project so would love to put on an event around this. I have something in the pipeline, but this year I want to make this happen!

11. Publish an eBook
I am not sure what the subject area will be yet, but I feel I have some useful life experiences for an eBook.

12. Spend more time with loved ones
Making time for the people who love and care about you the most is crucial. I will be taking the time out of my busy schedule to spend quality time with friends and family.

13. Work on my self discipline
I think the best way for me to nurture my self discipline is to give up something I love for 30 days. I will have a think about what that might be! (chocolate???)

14. Watch less,
TV can consume so much time! When you add up the amount of TV daily watching over a week, you can end up watching a full time job’s worth of TV. I will limit how much TV I am watching and read more books!

15. Silent Rave
Random, I know, but I would like to attend a silent rave! I feel it would be a good experience and something I have never done before.

16. Drop out of things I don’t like
There’s nothing worse than starting something, telling everyone you have started it and then hating it! If I feel this way, I am going to drop out of things I really don’t enjoy.

17. Eat what I love
I love food, I love food, I love food! I am going to eat what I love and try new foods.

18. Write a letter to myself and open it on my 40th birthday
I think this would be really interesting! I am not sure whether I would do this in an email or a physical letter, but I know I will appreciate reading it on my 40th birthday!

19. Do something that scares me
I am not really scared of insects or heights, but I will identify one of my greatest fears and try and conquer it!

20. Give people a reason to remember my name
I will continue to help others and hope by doing so, people will have a reason to remember my name.

21. Pay for a strangers meal or drink
One day (most likely on pay day) I will pay for a meal or drink when I am next out to dinner or grabbing a coffee from Costa! I am not sure how I would react if a stranger paid for my drink or meal. This will be interesting.

22. Meet a celebrity
I don’t know how, where, who or when I will meet a celebrity but I would love to fulfil this for my 30 things before 30! If you have a link to celebs, get in touch!

23. Dress in a completely different style for a day
I would describe myself as a plain dresser, boring! For one day, I am going to go all out with the lippy, quirky style and dress completely different to my norm. Who knows, I might like it!

24. Do 30 days of something
The thing that springs to mind for this one is being vegan for 30 days. I will set a date and make this happen!

25. A public speaking engagement where I share my story
I feel compelled to help others and I would love to share with an audience my full story and how I have become the person I am today. If you know of any public speaking opportunities, again, let me know!

26. Radio interview
I think with the suicide project I am working on, I could secure a radio interview (I hope). I would love to make this happen to raise awareness on suicide.

27. Watch a live sporting event
In my teens, I used to live and breathe basketball! Attending a live basketball match would be amazing, something I have always wanted to do.

28. Follow my dreams no matter how far they may seem
Continue to set goals and make my dreams a reality. I will not let others hinder my progress or success. I believe in myself and I know I can fulfil my dreams.

29. Start a business
This is a big deal! I have a few business ideas in the pipeline. I will make at least one of them happen, somehow! The only way to make this happen is to start.

30. Plan a 30th birthday celebration to remember!

So to sum up the final year of my twenties, I want to live life to the fullest, spend time with my nearest and dearest and achieve greatness.

Let’s go!
